~~Why a Class 2 prep made me smile~~

One day I was in sim lab working on my Class 2 prep and I just couldn’t break the buccal contact for some reason. I spent more time than I was supposed to on just trying to break that contact, so I paused, took a deep breath, looked around and I smiled. I was surrounded by intellectual people who were hard at work on their Class 2 preps and I thought to myself, “Wow we all made it.”

I started smiling at the thought of the fact that I was in a room full of Dental Students, studying the field of Dental Medicine in Dental School. I smiled because we all had our own individual struggles and we were all trying hard to overcome them in our own ways. I smiled because of the obstacles I overcame and the lessons I learned along the way that got me to where I am today.

I smiled because no matter how much we fall, we can look around and see that there are people willing to help you when you’re down the most. I’m forever grateful to be a part of this great profession. I can’t wait to progress further in this field and in my hand skills and smile and laugh at the fact that there was a time when we struggled on a Class 2 prep.
